The Food Service Department is excited to be serving your students again. We will continue to meet the strictest guidelines to ensure the food we serve is safe for our students and staff as we return to school again this year. Here are the highlights of some things that will be in place for this school year.
Cumberland Valley School District currently uses School Café as our online payment system. If you do not have an account set up, you can create one by going to http://www.schoolcafe.com.
If you have never used the online payment system, now is a great time to start. After creating an account, you will have to add your students. Once an account is created, you can begin to add money to the account, check the balance, see a transaction history report, and set up a low-balance email notification. Money can be added from $1 up to $100 per transaction. There is a $2.25 fee per transaction.
Cash/checks are still accepted at the school. Students will swipe or put in their ID number to pay at the register. Again, this year, to ensure safety and keep the lines moving, our cashiers WILL NOT give change. Instead, any change due will be credited to your child’s account. We do not accept credit cards on-site.
Please make all checks payable to CV School Lunch Account (please include child’s ID number on check).
BREAKFAST
Breakfast will be FREE for all students during the 2024-25 school year.
LUNCH
Elementary - $3.25
Secondary - $3.50
Free/Reduced - No Charge
Please see below for information about completing a free and reduced lunch application.
All school breakfast meals are free this year. If you think you might qualify for free and/or reduced lunch, please submit a free and reduced lunch application. We do not mail home applications. The easiest and most convenient way for you to get your application into the district is through the School Café website at: www.schoolcafe.com
Applications must be completed annually after July 1 of each year. If you had completed an application any time before July 1, 2024, you will need to complete another application for the 2024-25 school year. Additionally, if you received a letter or email stating your child is directly certified as free for the 2024-25 school year, you DO NOT need to complete another application.
If you would like a paper application, you can contact your school’s office or contact the Food Service Department.
Reminder: You can fill out a free/reduced lunch application at any time throughout the year.
We serve a choice of at least 2 breakfast options every morning at each school. We offer 2 servings of fruit each morning with breakfast. We will offer fresh or canned fruit and 100% fruit juice each day. Students can take 1 or 2 servings of fruit each morning, but must take at least one fruit with their meal each day to qualify as a meal.
Each day your child will have at least 3 choices for lunch. All lunches are served with a selection of both fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as, canned fruit, juice and a hot vegetable each day. Students are allowed to take 2 fruits and 2 vegetables each day, but they MUST have at least 1 fruit or vegetable on their tray to qualify for a complete meal and avoid being charged at ala carte prices for their items.
Students will enter the cafeteria, receive their meal and continue to the register. All students will be required to swipe their ID badge or enter their ID number into the POS system.
In the High School, students must have money on their accounts to purchase ala carte items from the ala carte kiosk. We will only accept cash and check payments in traditional cafeteria lines
All students will be required to enter their PIN # or swipe their ID badges to purchase meals or ala carte items from the cafeteria.
If a student has an allergy or special dietary needs they need to have it documented on file with the nurse’s office and the cafeteria will make all necessary accommodations.
A cup will be provided for students to get free water in all cafeterias from water fountains (or coolers if no fountain is available) during lunch. There is always a charge for bottled water.
Students are expected to return their trash and trays to the dish room.
All menus are available on the district website.
