We’re so #CVProud of our BrainBusters team!
Last month, the CVHS Pop Tab Team delivered their Winter Wonderland Collection to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA (RMHC). We were thrilled to donate over $500 worth of items to support children at the hospital and their families.
This project not only brought joy to others but also helped our students grow in our Portrait of an Eagle competencies like empathy and responsibility. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
January is School Director Recognition Month, a time to honor the hard work and dedication of our school boards. School directors play a crucial role in shaping the direction of our schools and the education of our students, often spending 10 or more hours each month making important decisions that impact our schools. Collectively, they bring 62.5 years of service to our district.
Board service is an unpaid role, and what makes their commitment even more impressive is their deep passion for public education and a desire to serve their communities. These volunteers—our neighbors, parents, and local leaders—are dedicated to the success of every student.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to guiding CV toward a brighter future!

Tomorrow is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our incredible school police officers! Your unwavering dedication, bravery, and commitment to keeping our district safe are truly appreciated.
You make a lasting impact every day, and we are so grateful for your service!
Due to budget cuts for the 2024-2025 school year, many elementary field trips were initially canceled. However, we recently learned of state grant funding that could allow us to reinstate some trips for the upcoming school year and possibly the 2025-2026 year.
While not core to the curriculum, field trips offer valuable real-world experiences. Proposed field trips include hands-on science learning for Kindergarteners, provided by the Whitaker Center and experienced directly in the classroom, wildlife exploration for First Grade at Lake Tobias, and nature studies for Second Grade at Hershey Gardens. Third Grade will visit the Oakes Museum, and Fourth Grade will tour the State Museum and Capitol. Fifth Grade will continue their trip to Biztown to foster community connections and enhance students' future readiness.
We are in the process of securing the grant and will provide additional details upon the approval of the funding.
Now through March 31, 2025, The GIANT Company is offering an easy way for you to make a significant difference in the fight against childhood hunger. Simply round up your purchase at the register to support Feeding School Kids, an initiative dedicated to providing nutritious meals to students in need.
The GIANT Company is further amplifying this effort by matching every rounded-up donation, up to $100,000. This means your contribution will have double the impact, helping ensure that more children receive the nourishment they need to thrive.
This year, thanks to The GIANT Company’s continued support, Cumberland Valley School District will once again benefit from the Feeding School Kids initiative. The mission to end childhood hunger is one that aligns closely with our own values and goals.
When you round up at The GIANT Company, you’re not just helping to fill lunchboxes—you’re fueling the dreams of students. Better nutrition leads to better learning, improved health, and brighter futures. Every contribution counts, and with your support, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of countless children.
Help spread the word! Share this opportunity with your neighbors, friends, and family, and encourage them to join the fight against childhood hunger by rounding up during their next grocery trip. Together, we can make a powerful impact and bring hope to children in need.
The Eagle Foundation is excited to host the 27th Annual Recognition Dinner on Friday, April 11 at the West Shore Country Club. This special evening honors individuals who have made an outstanding impact on the Cumberland Valley School District (CVSD) community, and we need your help to select the evening’s most prestigious award recipient!
The Commitment to Excellence Award is the highest honor presented during the event. It recognizes a truly exceptional individual whose actions or achievements serve as a shining example for our community. Eligible nominees include administrators, alumni, coaches, staff, students, teachers, and volunteers with a current or past connection to CVSD.
Do you know someone who deserves this recognition? Nominate them today! Completed nomination forms are due by February 5.
In addition to this distinguished award, we’ll also honor approximately 15 outstanding personnel and volunteers—our Building Stars—coordinated by each school’s principal. Stay tuned for event details on our event page and mark your calendar for an inspiring evening of celebration and community pride.
From Our Transportation Department
Like many other schools locally and nationally, we are experiencing a significant shortage of school bus and van drivers at Cumberland Valley School District. This shortage has affected, and will continue to affect, the transportation services we provide to our students. Our contractors are actively working to hire new drivers, and we are committed to ensuring that all students receive a ride to and from school. However, please be aware that this may require last-minute modifications to routes and stop times, which we will communicate to parents as quickly as possible.
Notifications of delays will be sent via text and email to the contact information listed in Skyward. To ensure you receive these notifications, please verify that your phone numbers and email addresses are up to date in Skyward.
When we have information about delays exceeding 20 minutes, we will notify you as soon as possible. Please understand that our Transportation Office is often overwhelmed with calls and may not be able to answer all inquiries immediately. We kindly ask that phone calls be reserved for emergencies, such as a missing child. For non-urgent matters, please email us at transportation@cvschools.org.
If you know anyone interested in becoming a school bus or van driver for Cumberland Valley School District, please encourage them to reach out to one of our Transportation Contractors. There are great part-time opportunities available!
