October is National Principals Month, and we're thrilled to honor our outstanding leaders.
Our principals are more than administrators; they are adaptable leaders who rise to every challenge, compassionate communicators who listen with empathy, and relentless problem-solvers who seek the best for every student, every day.
They model critical thinking in decision-making, encourage growth through every obstacle, and lead with heart, vision, and purpose, helping our schools thrive and our students soar.
Thank you for leading with integrity, for inspiring greatness, and for helping our Eagles rise to new heights.
Top left: Last week, 7th-grade students in Mr. Cornelius' math class at Eagle View brought learning to life through a fun and engaging project. Using scale drawings from the construction blueprints, they worked together to calculate real-world measurements of the Eagle View construction site. It was a great way to apply math skills to something happening right in their own school!
Top center: Hampden Elementary students are off to an exciting start, putting their media and communication skills into action. The WHAM studio is now entirely student-run, giving them a hands-on opportunity to lead, create, and share their voices with their peers and teachers.
Top right: Students in Herr Noll's German III class at CVHS explored grammar through fun and meaningful language practice. By identifying objects around the classroom and using adjectives with the correct endings, they strengthened both their speaking and listening skills. Lessons like these build confidence and make grammar more approachable and memorable.
Bottom left: Dandelion (Dandy), CV9’s Facility Dog in training, proudly poses with one of our bus drivers. With his friendly face and calming presence, Dandy supports both students and staff by offering comfort through a warm hug or simply saying hello. He’s currently training to provide gentle pressure and reassurance for those feeling anxious or overwhelmed, and he truly loves every moment of his important job.
Bottom center: Mrs. Zinn’s 2nd graders at Monroe Elementary worked hard throughout their Early Asian Civilization unit, learning about the rich history of India and China and discovering how mighty rivers helped these civilizations grow. Through reading, writing, and teamwork, they not only improved their skills but also brought history to life by building the Great Wall of China together in the classroom with various objects. Their curiosity and collaboration truly made this unit special and unforgettable.
Bottom right: The 3rd graders at Middlesex Elementary had a wonderful time at their "Mad Hatter" Tea Party, celebrating the completion of their first CKLA unit on classic tales. Their smiles and laughter filled the room as they enjoyed delicious snacks and tea together.
Last week, we kicked off our staff recognitions for the 2025–2026 school year by honoring an outstanding staff member who exemplifies our Portrait of an Eagle competencies. Superintendent Dr. Blanchard surprised them with a certificate and a POE Challenge Coin to celebrate their dedication to students and commitment to promoting our core competencies.
Please help us celebrate the following staff member:
- Andrea Caloiero, a Learning Support Teacher at Green Ridge Elementary School, was recognized for her exceptional adaptability, especially in how she supports students through changes in routine. When a schedule shift arose, Mrs. Andrea Caloiero reached out proactively to offer guidance and reassurance, ensuring her student felt prepared and supported. Her thoughtful communication and calm presence helped make a potentially stressful situation manageable, not just for the student, but for the whole family. She leads with empathy and intention, creating a sense of belonging that makes a lasting impact.
Congratulations, and thank you for your commitment to Cumberland Valley!
Last Friday, students and staff were treated to a surprise assembly in honor of Silver Spring Elementary’s 70th birthday! The PTO pulled out all the stops; everyone got a bright red rally towel to show their school spirit, cheered on a hilarious dance-off, and discovered a fun new way to earn points for exciting building-wide prizes throughout the year. The celebration was the perfect mix of school pride, laughter, and a little friendly competition!
Tomorrow is National School Custodian Appreciation Day, and we want to give a big shoutout to the incredible custodial staff across CV who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our schools clean, safe, and welcoming. Whether it’s early mornings, late nights, or everything in between, their dedication helps create the best possible environment for our students and staff to learn, grow, and thrive.
We thank our custodians for their hard work, dedication, and the care they show our schools every single day.

We’re excited to announce our 2026 travel destinations, inspired by the enthusiasm for our global educational travel program last fall! Students in grades 8-11 are invited to join us for educational trips to Germany, Portugal-Azores, Switzerland, or Thailand. Meanwhile, middle school students can participate in experiences in London, Paris, or Panama in 2026.
Traveling helps students expand their understanding of the world, discover more about themselves, and build confidence—essential skills for becoming the global citizens of tomorrow. We would love for your student to join us on one of these adventures!

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Like many other schools locally and nationally, we are experiencing a significant shortage of school bus and van drivers at Cumberland Valley School District. This shortage has affected, and will continue to affect, the transportation services we provide to our students. Our contractors are actively working to hire new drivers, and we are committed to ensuring that all students receive a ride to and from school. However, please be aware that this may require last-minute modifications to routes and stop times, which we will communicate to parents as quickly as possible.
Notifications of delays will be sent via text and email to the contact information listed in Skyward. To ensure you receive these notifications, please verify that your phone numbers and email addresses are up to date in Skyward.
When we have information about delays exceeding 20 minutes, we will notify you as soon as possible. Please understand that our Transportation Office experiences a high volume of calls during this time and may not be able to respond to all inquiries immediately.
In order to keep the phone lines open for emergencies, please email the Transportation Office with stop concerns, as well as to confirm bus information at transportation@cvschools.org.
If you know anyone interested in becoming a school bus or van driver for Cumberland Valley School District, please encourage them to reach out to one of our Transportation Contractors. There are great part-time opportunities available!
