On Monday morning, Monroe Elementary School hosted a heartfelt dedication ceremony to honor two outstanding educators whose impact continues to shape student learning.
Dr. Ward’s Outdoor Classroom is now open! A vibrant space encouraging hands-on exploration and connection with nature, named in honor of former principal Dr. Ward and her commitment to innovative learning.
Mrs. Biddle’s Bookshelf celebrates a beloved retired reading teacher. The curated collection features student-favorite books that reflect her passion for literacy and years of dedicated service.
Speakers from the school, PTO, and district shared reflections on the powerful influence educators have on students.
Aligned with this year’s theme, #ConnectedNeighbors, the ceremony was a reminder that meaningful spaces and intentional moments can leave a lasting legacy.
These new additions at Monroe stand as symbols of tradition, inspiration, and the enduring spirit of education.
Top left: First graders at Hampden Elementary wrapped up their human body unit with a fun and flavorful celebration, Apple Day! Students explored the senses by tasting different types of apples, bringing science to life in a delicious way.
Top center: Eighth-grade students in Mrs. Dudeck's Tech Ed class at Mountain View Middle School had a great time working together to design and build pull toys using the gear train concepts they learned. Each toy featured at least four working gear trains that moved when pushed, allowing students to apply their creativity while demonstrating their understanding of mechanical systems. Throughout the project, they actively used their Portrait of an Eagle competencies: critical thinking, problem solving, and communication to bring their ideas to life.
Top right: Third-grade students at Shaull Elementary were treated to a special musical performance by their music teacher, Mrs. Schade. She played the trombone along with several other instruments, sparking curiosity and joy through the power of music.
Bottom left: Mr. Swisher's Explorations class at Green Ridge Elementary put their creativity to work by designing and building their own wind vanes. This hands-on project helped them understand how wind direction is measured and why it matters. Each student took pride in testing their unique design and seeing it in action outdoors.
Bottom center: Students had a great time at the pre-game festivities for the Gold Out game, enjoying activities like paint wars, the dunk tank, and pie-in-the-face fun. The energy and excitement were all for a good cause, with proceeds supporting CVHS’ Mini-THON. It was a memorable night filled with laughter, school spirit, and giving back.
Bottom right: Silver Spring Elementary students kicked off Fire Prevention Week in an unforgettable way, by arriving at school in a fire truck! Winners of the fire prevention artwork contest earned the exciting ride, thanks to the New Kingston Fire Company. It was a fun and meaningful way to celebrate safety and creativity.
Please join us in celebrating Aarushi Dedhiya, a proud member of the Cumberland Valley High School Class of 2025, on being named a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar — one of the highest academic honors in the nation!
Aarushi is one of just 161 students nationwide selected for this incredible recognition, chosen from over 6,400 qualified candidates. She is also a Coca-Cola Scholar and served with distinction as a student member on the Pennsylvania State Board of Education from 2023–2025.
This prestigious honor is a testament to her hard work, integrity, and leadership.
Congratulations, Aarushi — we are #CVProud of you!
What an incredible day at CVHS for our 14th Annual AgVenture Day! Nearly 1,000 fourth graders and chaperones from across the district joined us for a hands-on journey through the world of agriculture.
70 CVHS Cumberland Valley Agricultural Sciences & FFA students led the charge as workshop leaders, group guides, and lunch organizers—sharing lessons on pollination, aquaponics, the journey of milk from cow to glass, animal care, and more.
A huge thank you to our student leaders and community partners for making it all possible. Your preparation, passion, and leadership made this day unforgettable.
DYK: Our students showcased the #PortraitofanEagle competencies throughout the day, proving that #EaglesAreResponsible, #EaglesAreAdaptable, #EaglesAreCommunicators, and #EaglesAreCriticalThinkers.

Monday, October 6, 2025, was National Coaches Day, and we are incredibly #CVProud to celebrate two outstanding coaches: Coach Billman and Coach Ranck, who have been named 2024-2025 NFHS Coaches of the Year!
Coach Billman led CV Boys Soccer to its first-ever state title last fall, and Coach Ranck guided CV Boys Volleyball to its first state championship since 2008 in the spring.
As we honor their remarkable achievements, we also thank all of our coaches, the mentors who give their time, heart, and energy to help student-athletes grow, compete, and succeed at every level of their journey. Your impact reaches far beyond the competition.
The Cumberland Valley Girls Golf team has done it again — capturing their second District III team title in three years after a thrilling playoff win over Northern at Honey Run Golf Club!
Both teams finished tied at 275, but the Eagles pulled through in a clutch playoff hole to punch their ticket to the PIAA Team Golf Championships on October 22 at Penn State’s Blue Course.
Congratulations, Eagles! We are #CVProud!

Like many other schools locally and nationally, we are experiencing a significant shortage of school bus and van drivers at Cumberland Valley School District. This shortage has affected, and will continue to affect, the transportation services we provide to our students. Our contractors are actively working to hire new drivers, and we are committed to ensuring that all students receive a ride to and from school. However, please be aware that this may require last-minute modifications to routes and stop times, which we will communicate to parents as quickly as possible.
Notifications of delays will be sent via text and email to the contact information listed in Skyward. To ensure you receive these notifications, please verify that your phone numbers and email addresses are up to date in Skyward.
When we have information about delays exceeding 20 minutes, we will notify you as soon as possible. Please understand that our Transportation Office experiences a high volume of calls during this time and may not be able to respond to all inquiries immediately.
In order to keep the phone lines open for emergencies, please email the Transportation Office with stop concerns, as well as to confirm bus information at transportation@cvschools.org.
If you know anyone interested in becoming a school bus or van driver for Cumberland Valley School District, please encourage them to reach out to one of our Transportation Contractors. There are great part-time opportunities available!
