Greetings Shaull Families,
It has been a busy couple of weeks at Shaull. All students have completed their beginning of the year assessments and will be starting their SOAR groups on Monday. SOAR is designated time in every grade level at each CV elementary school where students get the academic instruction they need based on their beginning of the year assessments. Please note, in our half day Kindergarten, this is part of our Extended Day program. We are very fortunate to have reading interventionists and multiple points of data to help tailor students' instruction.
Coming up on September 27, we will have our first of two NED Show school assemblies of the school year. NED stands for Never Give Up, Encourage Others, and Do Your Best. Our September assembly is a synchronous live event whereas our Spring NED Show, titled Kindness Adventure, will be in person here at Shaull. Part of the fun of NED Show is weaving in the classic yoyo into the assembly. Here at school, we will be selling the NED Show yoyos. The sale of the yoyo completely offsets the fee for the two assemblies, and is a lot of fun for the students! Be prepared for your student to come home excited about NED Show, yoyos, and yoyo tricks! Shaull's after school clubs are also off to a great start! A special thank you goes out to our Garden Club Chair, Mrs. Skoczynski, who for several years now, has poured her heart and soul into a thriving garden and a wonderfully positive experience for students! Another thank you goes out to CVHS student, Adam Skoczynski, who is doing phenomenal work with our Engineering Club! Additionally, our first Science Explorers Club, Slime After Slime, will be starting at the end of this month! Lastly, stay tuned for updates related to a Spring Girls on the Run team! We are working to find parent volunteers who are interested in coaching and leading this amazing after school experience for students in the intermediate grades here at Shaull! If you may be interested in being a GOTR coach or co-coach, please feel free to reach out to the GOTR mid-state coordinator, Alyssa Akhtar, at alyssa.akhtar@gotrmidstatepa.org
Respectfully,
Mr. T.
