Principal's Message

Greetings Shaull Families,

With the Summer winding down and the new school year quickly approaching, we wanted to provide all of our families with information relative to the start of school. All teacher assignments have been entered into the Skyward database and are visible to you by way of your parent access portal. If you need assistance navigating the portal, please contact our school office. Our wonderful secretaries, Mrs. Shoemaker and Mrs. Moesta would be happy to help you!

Once again, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our Green Ridge Elementary Kindergarten Families! As their school building continues a major construction and renovation project, we will house their Kindergarten teachers and students. While these kindergarteners will always be Green Ridge Gators, they will be a little bit Shaull Shark as well! 🦈

Our amazing Shaull Elementary PTO has organized an informal Kona Ice "Breaker" evening on the playground on August 8th at 5:00 PM. Please join us on the playground to have a free student Kona Ice, compliments of the Shaull PTO!

We will host Kindergarten and New Student to Shaull Orientation on Thursday, August 14 beginning at 5:30 PM:

Green Ridge Kindergarten Families should attend from 5:30 to 6:15 PM.

Shaull Kindergarten Families should attend from 6:30 to 7:15 PM

New to Shaull Families in grades 1-5 may attend from 7:30 to 8:15 PM.

Following a few days of in-service for staff, the first student day of school is Tuesday, August 19, 2025. We can't wait!

Back to School Night will be held at all CV elementary schools on Wednesday, September 3, from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. This event is for parents of students in grades 1-5:

Grades 1 and 2 will run from 5:30-6:15 PM.

Grades 3, 4, and 5 will run from 6:30-7:15 PM.

Once the school year begins, our school newsletter will be sent every other Friday via our district website, email, and text system, Thrillshare. Any email sent through this system will show the sender as Shaull Elementary School.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly should you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. We are excited to see our Sharks in a couple weeks!

Respectfully,

Mr. T.

Note About School Supplies

The Cumberland Valley School District provides all elementary students with the basic school supplies needed for each day. Parents do need to provide their elementary student with a backpack, lunch box/bag if packing lunch, and a water bottle if necessary.

Welcome our New Shaull Staff!

New Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

This year we are making improvements to the safety and efficiency in our drop off and pick-up loop. This involves larger, more visible cones and signage, lane safety protocols, and student numbers replacing QR codes.

We have replaced the QR codes with a number tag issued for each student. At dismissal, please hold up your number tag(s) so our staff member can see it from the sidewalk in the parent loop. From there, teachers will be notified to send students outside for parent pick up. The rest of the process stays the same as shown in the procedure document below.

Morning Drop off and Dismissal Pick up:

All cars must stay to the right of the cones. No cars will be able to pass another car as this creates an unsafe environment for students. All cars will pull up to the new "begins here" sign. We ask that everyone stay in their cars and be patient and understanding as we implement these changes. Remember, all students are assigned a school bus for most efficient transportation to and from school.

Mid Day Kindergarten Pick up and Drop off:

Since we need to have the four kindergarten buses and cars use the same loop, we will have the left lane open to cars and the right lane open for buses only. A staff member will walk one student at a time across the crosswalk to their car. Again, we ask for your patience and understanding as we attempt to make this safer and more efficient.

Early Dismissal Update

It will no longer be permissible to pick up a student from the office for an early dismissal after 3:30 PM. At the end of the school day, all parents/guardians who choose to pick up their student(s) must use the parent pick up loop after 3:30. In order to maintain attendance and consistency at the end of the school day and with respect to the high demand of our office staff at the end of the school day, last minute parent requests to pick up just prior to dismissal will not be honored. Of course, we will be understanding for any emergency situations. Please have students ride their designated school bus or utilize the parent pick up loop as outlined below. Dismissal begins at 3:55 PM and cars are typically through the loop within 10-15 minutes. Please note, the first week will take longer as we learn our students, guardians, and their vehicles.

Coming Soon: New CV Elementary Report Card

We have been working on a new report card to replace Mastery Connect starting this school year! The new report card will be accessed each trimester within the Skyward Parent Portal and will be similar in look and feel to many neighboring districts' standards aligned report cards. Once we have the finishing touches completed, we will share an example of the report card and a Quick Reference Sheet for parents.

PTO Information

Our PTO works diligently to plan and host wonderful experiences for our students and families.

In order for our PTO to be successful for current and future generations of Shaull students and teachers, we need participation by our parents. Please reach out to me or the PTO at shpto@cvschools.org, or rtysarczyk@cvschools.org for information on how to attend a Zoom PTO meeting or how to get involved in our events. Our PTO meetings are the second Wednesday of each month and generally are 30-45 minutes in length.

Portrait of an Eagle

Fly Like an Eagle!

Cumberland Valley School District's Portrait of an Eagle is our vision for all students upon graduation. Through the immersive Kindergarten through twelfth grade experience here at CVSD, our students will be able to demonstrate these seven competencies for success in adult life.

We will reward students each month with the CVSD Portrait of an Eagle Award Certificate. Be on the look out should your student come home with an award!

Additionally, students will be awarded the "High Fly"er" tickets on an ongoing basis to be entered in for regular prize drawings. Students may earn lunch with the principal, a game in the lobby "Sharkade," or prizes from the Principal Prize Bin.
