Principal's Message

Greetings Shaull Families,

It is hard to believe this is our final Shark Bites Newsletter of this school year! With this in mind, we have a few important pieces of information to mention. If you ordered a school yearbook, they will be in soon and we will provide students a building wide yearbook signing time during the last week of school. We should have a very limited amount for purchase when they do come in, on a first come, first served basis. The price is $25.

The last day of school is Thursday, June 5 for grades 1-5. It is a half day of school with a dismissal time of 11:55 AM. No lunches are served on the last day of school.

The last day of school for Shaull PM Kindergarten is Wednesday, June 4th.

The last day of school for Green Ridge AM Kindergarten at Shaull is Tuesday, June 3rd. Green Ridge Students will be at Green Ridge for Step Up day on Monday, June 2nd. Please be sure to return your Step Up day permission slips to your kindergarten teacher.

Third through fifth grade parents received an email yesterday regarding a district-wide Portrait of an Eagle student survey that we will be administering on Friday, May 23 at Shaull. Please take a moment to review this email as it will explain the survey and provide you with an opportunity to exempt your student from the survey if you choose to do so. Our goal is to use the information gained from the responses to further inform our Portrait of an Eagle instruction here at Shaull and across the district.

During the summer, classroom rostering will be in progress. We do our best to create heterogeneous classroom groupings based on student data, behavioral information, and peer relations. Due to the information considered, we are unable to take parent requests for specific teachers for the next school year. I greatly appreciate your understanding. We aim to release teacher assignments on Skyward in early August.

As this is our final Shark Bites of this school year, any important announcements over the summer will be communicated on our school Facebook page, website, and our direct email/text messaging platform. Our next edition of Shark Bites will be in August.

If your family plans to move within CVSD or relocate over the summer, please complete the form at the link below: Moving Notification Form

Green Ridge at Shaull Kindergarten Families - Please see the announcement from Principal Franze at Green Ridge Elementary regarding a Kindergarten to First Grade Step Up day on June 2nd! Green Ridge K Step Up Day Memo

I can be reached over the summer in the school office on most days during regular business hours and via email at rtysarczyk@cvschools.org or by phone at 717-506-3415.

Thank you for an amazing school year filled with learning, growth, collaboration, and fun!

Enjoy your weekend!

Mr. T.

1

Communication - Ajwan communicates with her smile, her words, and Google translate to share her joyful and grateful attitude each moment. She communicates friendship by teaching her peers how to draw birds, communicates kindness by telling her partners “as you like” when making choices, communicates hope when asked “are you worried” by responding “no, it will be alright!” She politely asks for help and emphatically says “thank you so much!” for helping her in the slightest way. She has made many friends, learned to cartwheel and some hand shake games, and makes her classmates laugh with her facial expressions. She has brought so much positivity and joy to our classroom.

1

Empathy/Responsibility - Alexis is always checking in on other students to make sure that they are feeling good. She is always asking to help others and making sure that others feel welcome. She is kind, caring and respectful not only to the students but also to the adults in the building. Alexis shows responsibility every day in the classroom. She is always prepared for each of our subjects and is always ready to learn!

1

She is also able to explain her thoughts clearly when answering comprehension questions about stories. Arushi enjoys sharing her point of view and her methods with the class. Great job, Arushi!

1

Responsibility/Adaptability - Beckett consistently exhibits responsibility in class through his participation, effort, and kindness to others. He is adaptable throughout the day and is willing to work alongside any of his peers. Beckett has a positive attitude and is a great role model. Great job, Beckett!

She always completes her classwork and homework. Bianca gives her best effort and total attention to every lesson, assignment, and test. She is enthusiastic about learning and always follows the school rules. Bianca is a great student, classmate, and role model!

1

Adaptability - Dylan is a great student who exhibits multiple POE competencies such as responsibility, empathy, and communication, but especially adaptability. Dylan is always willing to switch his partner or adapt his group to fit another student in! He shows adaptability in lessons by making great choices and changing things like where he is sitting to meet his needs for the lesson. He is adaptable in completing work as well. He is always someone I can count on to adapt to the changes of the day, bringing bags to the nurse for sick friends, or papers to other teachers. I know that he will work with the challenges and not let them ruin his day.

1

Adaptability/Responsibility - Emily has faced three weeks of her two closest friends being absent. She gathered items for them, helped them understand what they missed, and branched out to work with others in the classroom while they were absent.

1

Empathy - Emma is always considering the feelings of her peers and those around her. She is kind, compassionate, and a friend to all. When a classmate is sad or upset, she is always looking for a way to cheer them up. Way to go, Emma!

1

Responsibility - Jayne shows responsibility in fun and thoughtful ways all year long! She turns her homework in on time, participates in class discussions, and helps her classmates if they need help. She treats her supplies (and her friends) with care, and she always tries her best, even when something feels tricky. Thanks to her responsible choices, Jayne sets a great example and helps make the classroom a better place for everyone. It has been such a pleasure having Jayne in our classroom this year!

1

Empathy/Adaptability - Kaden is a student who exhibits empathy towards his classmates. He notices when someone is feeling down and is the first to say a positive word of encouragement. He is polite and mannerly to adults, too! When routines change or challenges arise, he stays positive and finds ways to adapt. He is flexible in different situations which makes him a valued friend and a resilient member of our class.

1

Responsibility - Luna completes all of her assignments on time. She comes to school everyday with the biggest smile that radiates positivity. I am so excited to see Luna accomplish all of her dreams in the future. She is hardworking, dependable, and organized.

1

Empathy - Norah brings light into our classroom every day. She is the first to notice when someone is sad or hurt, but also the first to join in when someone is feeling proud or happy about one of their accomplishments. She is the biggest cheerleader of her classmates and friends, making her a truly wonderful part of our classroom.

1

Responsibility - Roya is a responsible student and good role model for her peers. She is hardworking, participates in class, and always puts her best effort into her work. She is also responsible with her behavior by being respectful and kind to others. I am very proud of Roya!

1

Critical Thinking/Problem Solving - Stefan has spent the entire year serving as a hardworking, critical thinking, problem solver throughout the day, but especially has been a leader and math professor during our Bridges lessons. Many times, Stefan would explain his insights and help his peers understand why certain strategies were more efficient in a way that was accessible to all of his 4th grade friends. Keep shining like the math star that you are, Stefan!

1

Responsibility - Victor is a model of responsibility in and out of the classroom. He is consistently respectful to classmates and teachers, and meets expectations always. He is kind, hard-working, and demonstrates responsibility well.

1

Confidence - Ella demonstrates confidence daily. She is confident in everything she does, from her work, to her strong sense of friendship, and in the stories she tells. She is full of joy and energy and it fills any room she is in. Ella spreads her confidence to others around her and builds them up and makes them believe they can do anything. She is such a joy to have in the classroom.

1

Empathy - Quincy is kind and caring in the classroom. She is considerate of others’ feelings and is helpful to friends. Great job, Quincy!

1

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving - Pearl has put her critical thinking skills to the test as she problem-solves during math class. As a 5th grader, students have had to overcome the challenges that come with learning a new curriculum, but Pearl has done a fantastic job with this! We are currently in our last math unit of the year and she is participating more and more in class, sharing ideas of how she solved new problems while utilizing strategies and skills that we have learned in previous units. She is showing that by using her critical thinking and problem-solving skills that we can use prior strategies and knowledge to help when we are introduced to new concepts in math.
