Greetings Shaull Families,
Today we had our first NED Show assembly of the school year! As you may recall, NED stands for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. Our students learned about how being kind leads to stronger relationships and a better school climate. As part of the assembly and to offset the costs of this and the spring assembly, the NED show operates school sales of items used in the assemblies. These will take place during lunch periods next week for any student and family who is interested. For details, see the flyer below for more information.
I would like to mention our practice regarding birthday invitations. While school is not the best place for students to hand out invitations to parties outside of school, we can accommodate this only if the student is providing an invitation to each student in his or her class. We will not accommodate birthday invitations that would be handed out to a select group of students. We also cannot provide students or parents the contact information of any class peers. One way to handle these types of communications can be through the use of social media messaging. Our goal is to foster an inclusive environment at each of our CV elementary schools. We appreciate your understanding.
We ask all students to have their i-Pads and Chromebooks fully charged each morning before they arrive to school. It is essential that students take proper care of their devices throughout the day and at home. We also highly encourage families to purchase the annual insurance for only $25 per student (or $75 per family), which covers all physical damage as well as loss/theft of chargers and/or devices. More information is available on our district website.
If parents are having difficulty logging into their Skyward or accounts, check the instructions on the district parent webpage, contact our school office for assistance, or submit a helpdesk ticket HERE.
It is important for parents and students to remember that all activity and web browsing on a school device can be monitored and is subject to our CVSD Acceptable Use Policy.
Lastly, as the warm weather winds down, we have had to direct some students and their families to the district dress code policy, 221. The policy does state that revealing clothing and clothing that could cause a disruption is prohibited in our schools. This includes but is not limited to clothing with alcohol or tobacco advertisements and crop tops that expose the midriff. Please take a moment to review the CVSD Elementary Student Handbook and feel free to reach out to me if there are any questions regarding this expectation.
