Principal's Message

Greetings Shaull Families,

It has been a phenomenal first couple weeks of the school year! Check out this week's district newsletter, the Wednesday Roundup, for an article about how we kicked off the new school year with our new theme, "A Galaxy Together", and how students worked on creating goal, hope, and dream statements with their buddy classes! You can read the article about Shaull HERE.

This weekend is a three day weekend as CV schools are closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.

Picture Day is on Wednesday as is Back to School Night, which will be held September 3, from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. This event is for parents of students in grades 1-5:

Grades 1 and 2 will run from 5:30-6:15 PM.

Grades 3, 4, and 5 will run from 6:30-7:15 PM.

There will be an optional 20 minute principal's presentation in the cafeteria at the beginning of both sessions, though families may feel free to report to their child's classroom. The information will be posted on our school website as a reference.

We are gearing up for our largest fund raiser of the school year, the Shaull Fun Run! Our amazing Shaull PTO has been working hard to prepare for this and many events for this coming school year. We are asking for an optional donation from each family to fund all of the events throughout the school year. Without the support of families, these events would not be possible. Please see the Fun Run section below for more information and how you can donate to the PTO! Our goal is to raise $20,000 this year. The PTO will purchase a portable pickleball court for our playground when we reach our goal!

Enjoy the three day weekend!

Respectfully,

Mr. T.

Skyward Parent/Guardian Check Offs

Please see this important Skyward information regarding Skyward Sign Off Forms from a recent edition of Wednesday Roundup:

It is important that you complete all of the back-to-school sign-offs available in Skyward’s Parent Family Access Center under the “Parent Sign-Off” tile for each of your children. These sign-offs include important information about educational websites, student handbooks, and more. Please complete these as soon as you are able to. When you log into the Skyward Family Access Portal you will notice that you cannot see information under other tiles until you complete the Parent Sign-Off forms.

Early Dismissal Update

It will no longer be permissible to pick up a student from the office for an early dismissal after 3:30 PM. At the end of the school day, all parents/guardians who choose to pick up their student(s) must use the parent pick up loop after 3:30. In order to maintain attendance and consistency at the end of the school day and with respect to the high demand of our office staff at the end of the school day, last minute parent requests to pick up just prior to dismissal will not be honored. Of course, we will be understanding for any emergency situations. Please have students ride their designated school bus or utilize the parent pick up loop as outlined below. Dismissal begins at 3:55 PM and cars are typically through the loop within 10-15 minutes. Please note, the first week will take longer as we learn our students, guardians, and their vehicles.

Coming Soon: New CV Elementary Report Card

We have been working on a new report card to replace Mastery Connect starting this school year! The new report card will be accessed each trimester within the Skyward Parent Portal and will be similar in look and feel to many neighboring districts' standards aligned report cards. Once we have the finishing touches completed, we will share an example of the report card and a Quick Reference Sheet for parents.

Portrait of an Eagle

Fly Like an Eagle!

Cumberland Valley School District's Portrait of an Eagle is our vision for all students upon graduation. Through the immersive Kindergarten through twelfth grade experience here at CVSD, our students will be able to demonstrate these seven competencies for success in adult life.

We will reward students each month with the CVSD Portrait of an Eagle Award Certificate. Be on the look out should your student come home with an award!

Additionally, students will be awarded the "High Fly"er" tickets on an ongoing basis to be entered in for regular prize drawings. Students may earn lunch with the principal, a game in the lobby "Sharkade," or prizes from the Principal Prize Bin.
