Principal's Message

Greetings Shaull Families,

The Costume Dance is TONIGHT from 6:30-8:30 PM! Admission to the Costume Dance is either $5 or a canned/non-perishable food item as shown in the flyer below. See the section below regarding the Costume Dance for volunteer sign up, refreshment item sign up, and general information about the dance. Without our volunteers and donations, this event would not be possible. We sincerely thank you for getting involved in our school events!

Next Friday we will have our Fall Classroom Socials during the school day. We would like to thank our Room Parent Chair, Kelly Barber, our head room parents, and all room parents for helping classroom teachers with the Fall Socials. Morning (Green Ridge) Kindergarten socials will be from 10:40-11:40 AM. The Fall Social times for PM (Shaull) Kindergarten and Grades 1-5 is 2:20 - 3:20 PM. Please note students are not to wear costumes or face paint to school for the Fall Socials.

Looking ahead, November 13th is the end of Trimester 1 for all CV elementary schools. Parent/Teacher conferences are on November 14th (there is no school for students on 11/14). Be sure to sign up for a parent/teacher conference with your child's teacher! Report cards will be issued on Skyward on November 25th. This is the first time report cards will be on Skyward for elementary students. More information will be shared as we approach the report card release.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Respectfully,

Mr. T.

Veterans Day Essay Opportunity (grades 3-5)

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Families,

As we approach Veterans Day, we are providing students the opportunity to write an essay about this special day. This is not a requirement and would be a project that students would work on at home. Students who enter their essays into our contest may be selected to read it at our assembly on Tuesday, November 11th.

Your student can choose from any of the prompts listed below and write a brief essay to discuss the prompt. Students should then submit their essays to Mrs. Schade through Seesaw or bring a printed copy to the office for Mr. T. A committee of staff will select up to 3 students to read their essays at our assembly.

Essay Prompts:

What Veterans Day means to me

A Veteran I Love

Why are Veterans important?

Why is it important to say "thank you" to veterans?

What are some freedoms you enjoy every day that veterans helped protect?

Our PTO works diligently to plan and host wonderful experiences for our students and families.

In order for our PTO to be successful for current and future generations of Shaull students and teachers, we need participation by our parents. Please reach out to me or the PTO at shpto@cvschools.org, or rtysarczyk@cvschools.org for information on how to attend a Zoom PTO meeting or how to get involved in our events. Our PTO meetings are the second Wednesday of each month and generally are 30-45 minutes in length.

Portrait of an Eagle

Fly Like an Eagle!

Cumberland Valley School District's Portrait of an Eagle is our vision for all students upon graduation. Through the immersive Kindergarten through twelfth grade experience here at CVSD, our students will be able to demonstrate these seven competencies for success in adult life.

We will reward students each month with the CVSD Portrait of an Eagle Award Certificate. Be on the look out should your student come home with an award!

Additionally, students will be awarded the "High Fly"er" tickets on an ongoing basis to be entered in for regular prize drawings. Students may earn lunch with the principal, a game in the lobby "Sharkade," or prizes from the Principal Prize Bin.

Staff Shout Outs!

Please use the link below to nominate a Shaull staff member for doing something amazing or for going above and beyond! We will share responses in future editions of Shark Bites!

Eagle Spotlight - Shaull Staff Shout Out Form

Check out these wonderful commendations!

When playing “Would You Rather,” my 2nd grader asked if I’d rather have field trips every day and no regular classes, or have regular classes but also gym every day. I said I’d rather a regular day, and I assumed my son would choose field trips every day. However, he excitedly said, “Me too! I would definitely choose gym every day!” Clearly, Mr. C makes class fun enough that it’s worth having to do all the other “work!” ;)

Mr. Barrick is always helpful to me! (from a Shaull Student!)

Our Vision at Shaull Elementary School

Working together to promote an environment where every child belongs and grows into a lifelong learner.
