Principal's Message

Greetings Shaull Families,

This past Monday was the end of Trimester 2. Updated Mastery Connect Report Cards will be available on March 13th. Please refer to the Useful Links section below for a Mastery Connect User's Guide if needed.

This week I had the opportunity to speak with each Fourth Grade classroom about internet security. We were recently made aware of some students attempting to bypass the school district internet filtering by using a "proxy" website. Sure enough, some students were able to do this and access websites or games that would have otherwise been blocked by our filtering system. Please have conversations with your child about the immense power they have at their fingertips with the internet and devices, how to use it for good, and not putting themselves, others, or the district at risk of unwanted intrapersonal issues, hacks, or viruses.

We had such a wonderful time at our PTO Skate Night at Olympic Skating Rink! For a Monday evening, we had a great crowd of students and families! Thank you for coming out to support our PTO and to have some fun! Thank you to our wonderful PTO for coordinating this event with the skating rink!

This week we also celebrated Read Across America Week with special lessons, "Drop Everything and Read" times throughout the school day, and themed dress days! We love to see our Sharks participate in these activities and enjoying the love of a good book!

If your student purchased a book from Mr. A., the books did arrive this week and we are coordinating a time where Mr. A. can come in and personally sign each one for the students. Once we have this completed, they will be given out. Thank you for your patience!

Please note on March 17th, we have a district in-service day. School will not be in session for students. On March 31, the district is closed with no school in session.

We are looking forward to our next school dance, "The Shamrock Shake", on Friday, March 21 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM! Please see the flyer and information below for details about signing up to help via a Time to Sign Up (TTSU) link and entry fees/procedures.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Mr. T.

Our February POE Award Recipients: Responsibility

1

Millie is very responsible and is a student I can depend on. She consistently volunteers to do things to help the classroom run smoothly, and is an excellent role model. She is always working hard and doing her best! Awesome job, Millie!

1

Calista is a very responsible and respectful young lady. She is attentive and gives her all to her work. She is kind and helpful to others and demonstrates many of the POE competencies.

1

Reagan is consistently respectful and responsible in all school areas - in the classroom, at lunch, at recess, and in the hallways. She is a role model to her peers on what being respectful entails. She is hard-working, kind to all, and goes out of her way to ensure that she is meeting all expectations.

1

Vivian demonstrates responsibility throughout the day and is a great role model for her peers. She is always prepared and participating in class. Her work and effort is to be commended and I’m so proud of her! Way to go, Vivian!

1

Landon demonstrates responsibility by always completing his homework, following the rules, and by being a great role model for his peers.

1

Riaan is attentive, prepared, respectful, and follows school rules and directions. He always remembers to be safe and is helpful to others. He stays on task in the classroom and fully participates throughout the school day. He is a good example and friend for his classmates.

1

Maren is a very reliable student. She is organized, completes all of her assignments, and radiates positivity in our classroom! I am so proud of Maren and how she demonstrates responsibility.

1

Sawyer shows responsibility every day through following classroom routines, turning in his homework, having an organized desk, and participating in class. Multiple times this year he has shown responsibility through reminding others to take things home that they forgot, helping to complete unfinished jobs, and bringing a backpack to a student's bus who forgot it in the classroom at dismissal.

1

Avni demonstrates responsibility by always taking her time to do careful work. This is a reflection on her work ethic in understanding that work is not a race, and that she is more interested in doing well than about speed in her work.

1

Declan takes his time and care with every task he completes. When he sees others finishing before him, he doesn’t let that make him rush. He meticulously completes and submits work that he can be proud of.

1

Mia is a very responsible student who has consistently stayed organized with her materials and learning since her arrival at Shaull. She always completes her work on time, and if she misses anything, she makes sure to catch up. Mia serves as an excellent role model by participating in class and demonstrating kindness and respect towards her peers. I am truly grateful that Mia joined us this school year, and I look forward to seeing her continued growth!

1

Myla consistently demonstrates responsible behaviors from the moment she enters the classroom until she leaves each day. She completes all daily tasks, helps her peers nearly every day. I am so proud of the role model for responsibility that she displays in our classroom! Keep shining, Myla!

1

Max is a responsible leader in many areas of our classroom. He is consistent in turning in homework, keeping his cubby and desk organized, and being an excellent example for his classmates to follow. He demonstrates integrity and is kind to everyone. Way to go Max!

1

Cash shows responsibility every day inside and outside of the classroom. Every assignment or project that he does, he makes sure to take the time and effort needed to succeed. He keeps his things neat in his desk and is always prepared for a whole day of learning.

1

Aubrey demonstrates responsibility in class by being attentive during lessons, turning work in on time, demonstrating behaviors of a model student, and being on task. Recently she showed responsibility by going out of her way to check-in about missing work due to being absent and made sure to get caught up as soon as possible. Aubrey is a great example of a responsible student and has shown this throughout the school year.

1

Ramona demonstrates responsibility every day. She is always prepared, gets her work done, helps friends in need, and helps me with things around the classroom. She goes above and beyond expectations in the classroom. Ramona is a wonderful role model to those around her and is so deserving of this recognition! I am so proud of her work ethic and the joy she brings to our classroom!

1

Griffin is an organized student who always is on top of his work. He works quickly and efficiently to get his tasks completed in order to then relax and enjoy his free time to learn more. If he says he’ll complete something at home, it’s completed by the next day. Griffin is a man of his word!

1

Emma is very responsible and demonstrates this daily. She rarely needs reminders to follow class rules, she keeps all her school supplies and her desk neat and clean. I can depend on Emma to always do the right thing and to guide others kindly to do the same. When we had a new student going on the same bus as her, she was the first to help her become comfortable and made sure she knew how the bus worked and that she got on the right one. She is very responsible in getting her work done correctly and does her best!

1

Trace demonstrates responsibility in class each day by following directions, by being careful with our books and supplies, and by putting our classroom items back in their correct place during clean up. Great job, Trace!

1

Sophia shows responsibility in class every day by being a good listener and by taking care of our math tubs, play centers, and books in the classroom. She cleans up right away when it is time to do so. Great work, Sophia!

1

Sofia shows responsibility every day by always wanting to take care of things around the classroom, as well as always making sure her classmates’ needs are met, too! She can always be trusted to act responsibly and as a role model for her peers. So proud of you, Sofia!

1

Logan demonstrates responsible behavior throughout the day. He completes his homework and will hand it in on his own, follows our classroom routines without prompting, focuses on his classwork and doesn’t get distracted by others, and his behavior is always what we would expect. Logan is helpful to others and kind to everyone. He is a hard worker and great role model. Keep it up Logan!

Common Sense Media's March Family Activity- Privacy and Security

Our Explorations curriculum has a large focus on digital citizenship throughout the school year and within each subsequent grade level. Our hope is that as technology becomes more accessible by our youngest learners, we are preparing them for how to appropriately communicate with others when using computers, websites, web enabled games, and phone communications including texting.
